12:30 Auf der Pre-Conference hielten zwei Forscher des Hans-Bredow-Instituts Vorträge im Rahmen der Session "Conceptional Challenges: Transmedia and diachronic memory"

- Dr. Hans-Ulrich Wagner: "Media, Memory and Migration. The communicative figuration of 'remembering and reviving' in the 'age of migration'"
15:00 – 17:00 - Das Young Scholars Network of ECREA (YECREA) veranstaltete eine Reihe von Workshops zum Thema "Methods, Writing and Activism". Einen davon leitete Dr. Cornelius Puschmann, sein Workshop behandelte das Thema "Researching Digital Media Environments".

09:00 – 10:30 Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen hielt im Rahmen der Session „Data Journalism: Studying a Maturing Field“ den Vortrag „Four forms of datafied journalism
. Journalism’s response to the datafication of society“.

11:00 – 12:30 In der Session “Children, Youth and Media” war das Hans-Bredow-Institut mit zwei Beiträgen vertreten.

14:30 – 16:00 Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen war Chair der Session „The datafication of society. How algorithmic data processing is changing the foundations of communication“. Sie hielt dort zudem den Vortrag "Through the lens of data. How datafication is changing journalism's observation of society."

09:00 – 10:30 Die Session “Beyond media: The next generation diary method” beinhaltete zwei Beiträge des Hans-Bredow-Instituts.

11:00 – 12:30 Julius Reimer und
Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen sprachen im Rahmen der Session „Public communication, technology and citizen engagement“ über „Co-creating a new local public sphere: on the potential of action research for re-vitalizing public communication in a city's centre and its peripheries”, zusammen mit den Co-Autoren Prof. Dr. Andreas Breitner vom ifib der Universität Bremen sowie Katharina Heitmann und Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp vom ZeMKI Bremen. Der Vortrag basiert auf Erkenntnissen des Projektes
“Tinder die Stadt”. Das Projekt wird durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung gefördert und hat das Ziel, eine innovative Nachrichten- und Informations-App für die Stadt Bremen zu entwickeln.

Lisa Merten den Vortrag “The editor am I – Practices, prevalence and predictors of personal news curation on social media”.

Florian Wittner stellten in der Session „Protection of a third kind: a key issue in communication law and policy” ihre Studie “Fit to do the splits? New roles and required tools of Data Protection Authorities within GDPR's governance structure" in der Section "Communication Law and Policy" vor.
