Lecture
The interdisciplinary research project "ExamAI - AI Testing & Auditing" (GI, TU Kaiserslautern, Saarland University, Fraunhofer IESE, Stiftung Neue Verantwortung), commissioned by the AI Observatory of the think tank at the German Federal Ministry of Labor, is investigating the question of what meaningful auditing and testing procedures for AI systems in the world of work might look like. The goal is to make the use of AI systems in human resources and talent management as well as in human-machine interaction in a production context safe, fair and non-discriminatory. The presentation will provide an overview of previous findings and preliminary recommendations from the project.
About the Speaker
Nikolas Becker is a policy and society officer at the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI). (GI) and head of the interdisciplinary research consortium "ExamAI - AI Testing and Auditing". In the context of his scientific work, he dealt in particular with the international political economy of intangible goods. After receiving his M.A. in political science (University of Potsdam, UCSD), he worked as a product manager for the Open Knowledge Foundation International. From 2011-2016, he was a member of the Executive Board of Wikimedia Deutschland - Gesellschaft zur Förderung des freien Wissens e.V.

About the Lecture Series
The "Hamburger Gesprächskreis automatisiertes Entscheiden" (Hamburg Discussion Group on Automated Decision Making), founded by Wolfgang Schulz and Matthias C. Kettemann in the context of the interdisciplinary research project "Deciding about, through, and together with Algorithmic Decision Systems", is aimed at researchers and practitioners from all disciplines who are interested in interdisciplinary perspectives on artificial intelligence and automated decision making.
