On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Tagesschau,
Prof Dr Joan Kristin Bleicher discusses with Tagesschaus anchorman Michail Paweletz as well as journalist and university lecturer Wilfried Köpke the future of the news programme that has shaped generations of TV viewers, educated them politically and set standards for the presentation of news.
What role will the Tagesschau play in the future in view of new technologies, platforms and a changing appearance as a result, the use of artificial intelligence and traditional editing? What social and political significance will the trustworthiness of news broadcasts have in the future, especially with regard to the question of the authenticity of news and how to deal with fake news? Do we still need Tagesschau - or do we need it more than ever?
The event is part of the series "Sinn des Ganzen" [The Meaning of It All] - Academy and Society in Dialogue, organised by the Academy of Liberal Arts in Hamburg.
It will be streamed live on the Academy's website.
