Annual Conference of the Chinese Communication Society

During the annual conference of the Chinese Communication Society in Taiwan Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen will give the keynote:

"Journalism’s transformation in a changing media environment. Participation — Datafication — Recalibration"

The talk will discuss the particular importance of media and journalism for societal self-observation, especially under these changed communicative conditions, and trace the current transformation of journalism. In this context, the focus is on three particularly powerful trends: the increasing orientation towards participation as part of a changing journalism-audience relationship, the datafication of society and its consequences for a more and more datafied journalism, and, as a consequence of the developments outlined, the recalibration of journalism with regard to its self-conception and societal functions.
