Book a Scientist 2022

As part of the Leibniz initiative "Book a Scientist", Prof. Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann discusses his research field of freedom of expression on the internet with interested citizens and answers their questions.
"Who determines what you are allowed to say online?"
Online platforms like Facebook and Google exercise enormous power on the internet. They control who is allowed to say what online. Rightly so? In Germany and Europe, a number of legislative projects have recently been presented that are supposed to ensure more transparency in rule-making and enforcement and more responsibility. But can this be used to tackle hate speech and disinformation?
