Comparison between Journalists’ and Citizens’ Views on Social Responsibility

Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen and Verena Albert will be guests at the Nordic Forum for Social Responsibility in Journalism from 11:30 a.m. In their lunch talk, they will present current findings on the following research questions:

• What (in-) congruencies can be identified between what the German population sees as important journalistic roles and what journalists in Germany themselves see as their professional tasks?
• How do the two groups' ideas of "good coexistence" relate to each other?
• How do the two groups' epistemic understandings of objectivity and subjectivity in journalism relate to each other?

In their presentation, Wiebke Loosen and Verena Albert will draw on a representative survey of the German population and another survey of German journalists (based on the third wave of the Worlds of Journalism Study).
 
The presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion.
