Demokratie und Regulierung der sozialen Medien

Between 18:00 and 19:15 CEST, PD Dr. Jan-Hinrik Schmidt will discuss online the topic of regulation in social media with former Federal Constitutional Court judge Prof. Dr. Paul Kirchhof. You can register here for the event.

The conversation will cover questions such as: Who decides what can be posted and who is liable for it? Are private companies taking over the role of the state here? To what extent are fundamental rights being questioned or undermined by social media? What counts as freedom of expression, what as criminal insult?

The event is organized by the Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies (FRIAS), the international research college of the University of Freiburg. It will take place via Zoom and will be streamed live via the FRIAS YouTube channel.
