Nowadays, commitment also takes place online. Hashtags and posts make it noticeable and individual movements spread with rapid speed sometimes over the whole globe. The #Fridaysforfuture movement, #ichbinhier or Jugend hackt currently show what the new edition of commitment looks like. Online petitions and social media open up new possibilities and seem to reduce barriers. Is the young generation with its opinions and rebellions seen and taken seriously by political actors? Where does the motivation of the digitally committed actually come from? What distinguishes them from the generations before them and from established forms of engagement?
The host
Katja Weber (radioeins, Deutschlandfunk Nova) discusses in this
