WAS WISSEN SCHAFFT

In this six-part lecture series,  Mesut Bayraktar and Prof. Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann invite researchers from different disciplines to reflect on how science creates knowledge, what knowledge creates, and how it can be used to create meaning, provide orientation and guide action. They want to discuss what knowledge underlies our actions and what knowledge prompts us to take certain actions.
 
The following questions will be explored in the series: When can we speak of knowledge? How does science create knowledge from truths or truths from knowledge? Is non-knowledge also a form of knowledge? Is knowledge different from opinion? Is there false and true knowledge? When is knowledge a truth? Can knowledge be unjust? Should we make special demands on action and orientation knowledge?
 
The event series is organised by the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut and the Department of Legal Theory and Future of Law at the University of Innsbruck.
