This time, the Digitaler Salon of the HIIG is about time-consuming social media: "Who Turned the Clock?" In the digital age it is no longer the fictitious grey gentlemen from "Momo" who steal people's time, but platforms like Slack or Instagram. Digital tools promise speed, flexibility and last but not least more fun. However: Do we gain more time with smart apps or do we lose ourselves in the acceleration trap due to self-optimisation and increased efficiency? How do journeys through digital spheres affect our sense of time? Is our relationship to the world on the Internet a different one? Knowledge and ideas are being shot faster and faster into the digital orbit. Can we still manage this increasingly complex flow of information? Being available around the clock and always holding the smartphone in our hands, we obviously lose our ability to do nothing. Are we becoming more and more dependent, and what are the alternatives?
