"This is a great success for the Hans-Bredow-Institut and the researchers involved. We are very pleased to be able to participate in this socially important project“, says Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink, Director of the Hans-Bredow-Institut.
According to the BMBF, the network will develop a foundation concept for the institute in a one-year preliminary phase starting on 01 December 2019. This network is to operate in a decentralised manner. The topics covered by the IfGZ will range from polarisation and populism, identities and regional experiences, media and conflict culture to anti-Semitism and hate crime. The institute is supposed to promote research in this field and contribute with practically relevant proposals in order to meet social challenges.
In addition to the Hans-Bredow-Institut, the Technische Universität Berlin and the Universities of Bielefeld, Bremen, Frankfurt, Halle, Hannover, Constance and Leipzig as well as the Soziologische Forschungsinstitut Göttingen and the Institute for Democracy and Civil SocietyJena were selected for the network.
