"Leibniz, Here We Come!" Celebration of the Upcoming Admission to the Leibniz Association

Hamburg, 25 September 2018. At a reception today, the Hans-Bredow-Institut thanked all those who actively supported the institute's application process for the admission to the Leibniz Association. Addressing about 90 guests from science, politics and business, the Hamburg Senator for Science Katharina Fegebank gave a welcoming speech and congratulated on the upcoming admission. The acceptance into the joint funding of the Federal Government and the Länder had been decided on 13 April 2018. The Hans-Bredow-Institut has now applied for the admission to the Leibniz Association. Accordingly, the motto of the event was "Leibniz, here we come!"

Besides the Senator for Science and Second Mayor of Hamburg Katharina Fegebank, representatives of pulic service broadcasting and longtime sponsors and supporters of the institute were among the guests.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schulz, Director of the Hans-Bredow-Institut, spoke in his opening speech about the exciting and labour-intensive moments of the past year, which were marked by evaluations and applications. He expressed his gratitude especially to the Authority for Science, Research and Equality, which had supported the institute to an extent that has no equal. For Senator Katharina Fegebank, whose team supervised the application process intensively, the success of the Hans-Bredow-Institut is also a success for Hamburg as a location for science. "Of course, we as the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg are also taking up the cause of the admission of the Hans-Bredow-Institut to the Leibniz Associaton", she said in her speech.

To Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink, also Director of the Hans-Bredow-Institut, it was important in his speech to pay tribute to every employee for his or her contribution to the success of the institute.
