Propaganda and Disinformation in the War against Ukraine

Propaganda and Disinformation in the War against Ukraine

The training portal for educational professionals "Medienbildung jetzt!" [Media Education Now!] offers the Sondermodul: "Q&A – Expert:innen zu Propaganda und Desinformation im Krieg gegen die Ukraine" [special module: Q&A - Experts on Propaganda and Disinformation in the War against Ukraine] in which Christina Dinar participated as an expert.

The war against Ukraine is currently moving the whole world. It is not only frightening pictures and videos that shake us, but also the high level of disinformation and propaganda. Adolescents are also exposed to this content and need support in recognising and classifying the disinformation and in processing the information.

The special module answers the most important questions about propaganda in the war against Ukraine and gives advice on how to deal with it in an educational context.

For this purpose, video interviews were conducted with experts who take a multi-professional look at the topic. Among others, the following were interviewed
  • Irene Plank, Commissioner for Strategic Communication at the Federal Foreign Office

  • Christina Dinar, social education worker and research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut

  • Jan Rathje, political scientist and (co-)founder of CeMAS - Center for Monitoring, Analysis and Strategy

The special module is a supplement to the online course “Praxisforum Medienbildung: Desinformation [Media Education Practice Forum: Disinformation]. It goes into detail about forms of disinformation, describes patterns, aims and gives numerous suggestions on how to deal with it pedagogically. It is recommended that the “Praxisforum Medienbildung” also be carried out.

"Medienbildung jetzt!" [Media Education Now!] is the further education portal for educational professionals in Brandenburg on issues concerning media education and digital education.
