Bosse, I.; Zaynel, N.; Lampert, C. (2018): Medienkompetenz in der Behindertenhilfe in Bremen. Bedarfserfassung und Handlungsempfehlungen für die Gestaltung von Fortbildungen zur Medienkompetenzförderung [MeKoBe - Media Literacy in Care Facilities for People with Disabilities in Bremen. Needs Assessment and Recommendation for Action for the Design of Further Education in Media Literacy Promotion]. Ergebnisbericht [Final Report]. Bremen: Bremische Landesmedienanstalt (pdf).
One of the core tasks of Brema (Bremische Landesmedienanstalt) is to offer "services to promote the active and deliberate handling of media content" to all citizens of Bremen. These services should be accessible and usable for all groups of the population, including people with intellectual disabilities. However, so far, there is no knowledge as to what an individual concept for imparting media literacy successfully to people with intellectual disabilities could look like.
For this reason, Brema has commissioned a study on 'media literacy in care facilities for people with disabilities, abbreviated MeKoBe, in 2017. As commissioned by Brema, researchers of TU Dortmund University and the Hans-Bredow-Institut Hamburg analysed basic condictions and requirements for teaching media literacy and media use in care facilities for people with disabilities (e.g. residential facilities, workshops, supervised leisure activities) in Bremen.
