Prof. Dr. Mariah Brochado

Prof. Dr. Mariah Brochado was guest researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut from March to September 2023.

Mariah Brochado is Full Professor of Philosophy of Law and Philosophy of Technology at the Faculty of Law, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She obtained her PhD and Masters in Philosophy of Law from the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Her post-doctorate in philosophy lead her to the University of Heidelberg.

Mariah Brochado is coordinator of the project "Cyber ​​Law in Brazil" at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Prior to that, she was Secretary of State for Legislation and Institutional-International Relations of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2015-2018) and president of the Artificial Intelligence Commission of the Brazilian Bar – Minas Gerais (2022-2023).

Her latest book published in Brazil: "Artificial Intelligence on the Horizon of Technological Philosophy: Technique, Ethics and Law in the Cybernetic Age". Editora Dialética, 2023 (605 p.)
