Paulina Domdey has been a junior researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) within the competence area Growing Up in Digital Media Environments since November 2021.
She is researching the socialisation of children in a changing media environment in the DFG project
"Connected Kids", where she is particularly interested in processes of gender socialisation in everyday media life.
Paulina Domdey studied cultural studies with a focus on media culture and communication (minor in business psychology) at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and communication studies and media research (minor in gender studies) at the University of Zurich. In her master's thesis, she theorised processes of gender and media socialisation and examined how young women acquire media representations of femininity against the backdrop of the risks of stereotyping, sexualising and objectifying media images.
From 2018 to 2021, she worked as a research assistant on various research projects in the field of media psychology at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), which focused on topics such as children's and young people's media use and health communication.
